It opens Friday!!! - And I'm not talking about Twilight!

Short Order Burger- are you drooling yet??
I know we should all be focused on turkey and mashed potatoes this time of year, but anytime is a good time for a super awesome burger! So scoot over Thanksgiving, you can wait one more week. There is other food to pay attention to this weekend.

Nancy Silverton (Mozza, La Brea Bakery) and the late Amy Pressman had been hard at work getting ready for their concept, Short Order, opening at the Original Farmer's Market. Anything Nancy Silverton gets her hands on tends to be nothing less than amazing. Mixologist Julian Cox (Rivera, Playa, Picca- aka the man who put beef jerky in a cocktail and made it work, actually who made it delicious!) is the mastermind behind the cocktail program. Should be something pretty special. Expect a seriously good bun, local meat, and an all around crave-able burger. You can get your burger on starting this Friday, November 18th. I'm hoping to give this a try before heading to see The Civil Wars at the Wiltern on Saturday night.

Also opening this Friday is a new West Indies isnpired restaurant by Roy Choi (Kogi, A-Frame, Chego!), Sunny Spot, in the old Beechwood space. Based on his other ventures, I think we are in for some seriously powerful flavors and a fun vibe.

No post about upcoming food news would be complete without discussing this upcoming NBC pilot based on Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger's lives as lady chef's in a man chef world! This would be such a fun show- they both have such dynamic personalities and such an interesting story line. I hope whoever they cast does up some crazy hair and spills the dirt on how Feniger's exhusband is now Milliken's husband, and Feniger is a lesbian, and things are still a-ok. There's some dirt to be spilled and I really want to see it! I hope it get's the go.

Also opening Friday is the ice skating rink at the W Westwood! Put the skates on and grab some cocoa, this sounds fabulous! Skating in Santa Monica, eat your heart out- this is going to be cleaner and chicer!
