Waterloo & City

I first visited Waterloo & City not long after it's opening. We tried a platter of terrines. We actually ordered a platter that had I think 4 terrines, but ours came with 5. Not thinking too much of this, I tried all of the terrines. I realized I couldn't identify one of the terrines. After reviewing the menu and matching the accoutrements to the terrine, I realized I was eating things that are on my food hard limits list: head cheese and pig trotters (fancy word for feet). Once I realized what I was eating, I refrained from that particular terrine. I just couldn't do it. It wasn't bad by any means, but I couldn't get past knowing what it was. Everything else was pretty good and I particularly liked the chicken liver and foie gras mousse.

I revisited Waterloo & City over the weekend and we took a different approach to our meal this time. We ordered a few drinks, 2 small plates and a pizza, which ended up being way more food than we needed and we took 3/4 of the pizza home. We were pretty impressed with how reasonable our bill came to and everything we ate was really delicious! I'd recommend going with a group of 4 or 6, order a few small plates, terrines, and a pizza so you can really feel out the menu. Also, don't skip over the bread- it's pretty good!

Round of drinks to ease into the weekend from a long week

Fried pequillo pepper, tuna tartare, avocado

Grilled asparagus, duck egg, morels, and prosciutto

Wild mushroom pizza, smoked mozzarella, and truffle oil

Have you been to Waterloo & City? What did you eat? Thoughts?

Lately Loving: Brow Tech

I think you get it by now that when I like a brand, I tend to stock up. You know I'm crazy in love with Fresh products, but I'm checking out some of Smashbox's best sellers (like their life changing BB Cream) and I'm not disappointed. Let me introduce you to Brow Tech- a combination of powders in 2 shades and a wax. Using an angled short bristled brush, you apply the darkest shade right at the base of your brow and then use the lighter shadow brushing upward in the same direction as your hair growth, essentially just filling it in, and then you use the same brush with the wax and also brush upward to keep your brows in place. I then use a brow brush and sweep them exactly as I want them. I have semi-problematic brows who can be unruly or can be easily over groomed and this little trick really helps put everything in its right place.

What other brow tricks do you have up your sleeves? Any favorite Smashbox products? Are there any products you couldn't live without?

The Most Unfashionable Episode of the Bachelorette Ever!

I have talked before about my not so guilty pleasure, the Bachelor franchise. I've watched for years and get together every week with girlfriends. Last night we used "Ricky" as a buzz word for a little wine drinking game. Lots of sips!

While I'm completely bored this season with Emily and her beaus, I can't stay away! While Arie is the current fan favorite, Emily's rose ceremony outfit was our least favorite thing about last nights episode. What was happening? If you're going on tv you are opening yourself to ridicule- so here comes the style onslaught! She normally looks Barbie-riffic adorable, but this white one shoulder jumpsuit is a Bachelorette travesty! Is it from Chico's?? Not at all age appropriate! It's not just the outfit that's the problem, it's the hair and the jewelry. Fake pearl necklaces and fake hair that looks like a drapery tassel. All bad!!!

Not bad fake pony tail

What are you guys thinking about this season? Who are you rooting for? Any outfit thoughts? Stand out moments? Who were your favorite bachelor(ette)s from the past?? It's time for a Women Tell All!

Neat Pleats

Hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing, playful, whatever you needed kind of weekend! Monday doesn't have to be so hard. Let's lighten the load and take about something whimsical- twirls, spins, and pretty clothes! Some fabrics have such beautiful flow and movement- they twirl, ripple, and flutter! Nothing does this quite like a skirt or dress in a light material (oh sweet, sweet chiffon!) full of PLEATS. Pleats are elegant, classic, and in a light material, they are so perfect for summer. Keep calm, pleat on!

You can also find some Bundts of Steal over on The Wedding Yentas today with some wedding planning etiquette and advice!

50 Shades of Shhhh.....

Mrs. Lilien's 50 Shades
themed sexy little somethings

We're taking a little break from our usual Friday Night Date Night stories to talk about something sexy instead of, well, awkward.  I'm letting the cat out of the bag here. I'm reading 50 Shades of Grey. I know I'm supposed to keep this some kind of sexy secret, but I just can't keep it quiet any longer! This series has sold millions of copies and I know at least a few of you are reading this as well.

I've never read romance erotica novels, and it's been a fun and naughty little read! I'm not yet through with the first book, and of course I think it's entirely cheesy {hello- her inner goddess!?!}, but in between the corny writing are some pretty steamy little scenes! Normally when I can't pull away from a book, I take it everywhere with me and read anytime I get a few minutes. I can't exactly pull out this book just anywhere, I mean, I wouldn't want 99% of my coworkers seeing me read this and then ask what it's about and have to explain...no thanks! It's also hard to pull away from the hot and heavy scenes if I have to put the book down. Come on- a girl needs literary satisfaction! Scroll down below, I have a few questions for you foxy ladies who have Grey fever!

Christian Grey? Photo from Renegade Chicks
Personally I picture Mr. Grey well kept, dangerously handsome, with killer arches in his eye brows giving him a dangerous look, but not quite a bad boy...you know, the kind of guy you wouldn't expect to have a bondage dungeon! He can't be a pretty boy, but not too rugged either. A friend of mine would die to see Armie Hammer as Christian, and I know she's not alone in that vote. There's also been a buzz about Ian Sommerhalder for this role- he definitely has the dangerous eyes thing going on!
Armie Hammer
So ladies...spill! Fess up and tell us what you think about 50 Shades! Has there been a apart of the book that you've been either really intrigued by, or maybe polarized by? How are your husbands/ boyfriends/ gentlemen friends/etc responding to you reading this? And..my favorite question of the week- if, or rather when, they make the movie, who do you want to see play Mr. Grey? What about Miss Steele? I found a whole tumblr dedicated to this very question of who should play the kinky leading mister and miss!

*Feel free to comment anonymously on this one if you're not "out" as a 50 Shades reader!
